Program Overview

The Health Career Pipeline Program is a 6-8 week immersive learning experience crafted specifically for high school juniors, seniors, and early college students, particularly those from underrepresented and underserved communities, who are curious about careers in healthcare and wellness.

Rooted in The Collective Space’s mission to equip and empower health & wellness providers, this program goes beyond career exposure. It is designed to transform aspiration into action by combining real-world mentorship, culturally relevant learning experiences, and early hands-on skills in a supportive, community-based setting.

Participants will explore a range of career paths—from bedside nursing to mental health counseling, public health leadership, and health entrepreneurship—through weekly workshops, reflective journaling, guest speaker panels, and skill-building labs. Whether a student dreams of becoming a doctor, a nurse, a therapist, or a health advocate, this program helps them build the confidence, clarity, and social capital to take the next step.

Week 1: Welcome to Healthcare

Students meet their cohort, set personal goals, and build “My Future in Healthcare” vision maps. An interactive “myth-busting” game introduces the major branches of modern health—clinical care, public health, mental health, research, and entrepreneurship—while outlining how the program will weave them together.

Week 2: Healthcare Career Pathways Showcase

Students climb the nursing career ladder—from CNA to advanced-practice roles—through first-hand stories from practicing nurses, then rotate through rapid-fire demos with a physical therapist, respiratory therapist, and clinical-lab scientist. They’re also introduced to the physician pathway while collecting “career cards” that outline education routes, growth potential, and a range of patient-centered avenues to make a lasting impact in healthcare.

Week 3: Beyond the Bedside

A systems-mapping workshop reveals how housing, food access, and policy decisions shape community wellness. Students break into teams to craft micro-action plans that solve a local health disparity—practicing advocacy and data-driven thinking.

Week 4: Clinical Skills Lab (hands-on exposure)

The session builds confidence, quick-thinking, and a wellness-minded awareness of how first responders safeguard communities—empowering participants to serve as calm, capable helpers long before they wear a professional badge.Guided by EMTs and nurse educators, students dive into a hands-on crash course in hands-only CPR, AED use, bleeding control, choking relief, and the recovery position.

Week 5: Mental Health & Wellness Careers

Licensed therapists and wellness coaches illuminate counseling, art therapy, social work, and integrative modalities (mindfulness, breathwork). Students practice a guided meditation, journal on resilience, and explore how mental health intersects every specialty.

6: College & Career Prep

FAFSA demystified, scholarship scavenger hunts, and real-time résumé critiques arm students with the practical steps to enter health professions. A mock personal-statement workshop highlights storytelling and equity in admissions.

Week 7: Leadership & Entrepreneurship

Through a “design-your-own clinic” challenge, students ideate scalable solutions to neighborhood health gaps, learning basics of budgeting, branding, and ethical leadership. Case studies of start-ups—telehealth, mobile units, wellness apps—show diverse revenue models.

Week 8: Capstone & Celebration

Each participant presents a multimedia “Pathway Plan” outlining their next academic steps, mentor needs, and community impact goal. Families join for a certificate ceremony, professional headshots, and networking mixer that formally launches graduates into our ongoing mentorship network.
