The Collective Space

Week 7: Leadership & Entrepreneurship

Students discover how leadership takes shape on two interconnected fronts:

Inside the Health System – A deep dive into hospital and corporate pathways: unit manager, clinical nurse specialist, quality-improvement director, chief nursing officer, and executive roles in health-tech companies. Through a “Command-Center Simulation,” teams respond to real-time data—bed capacity, staffing shortages, and policy updates—then present decisions to an executive‐panel facilitator.

At the Community Level – Leadership as advocacy and grassroots action. Participants map local health challenges and design a mini-campaign (e.g., mobile screening unit, school wellness fair, or neighborhood mental-health pop-up). They learn how to secure partnerships, funding, and volunteer teams, illustrating that impactful leadership doesn’t require a corner office—just vision and mobilization.

This session equips students to see leadership not as a single ladder but as a network of avenues—whether steering a multi-million-dollar hospital initiative or rallying neighbors around a street-level wellness project.
